Basilica Maria degli Angeli and the Baths of Diocletian

Today Monica and I headed over to see the Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli and the Baths of Diocletian , both by Termini Station. The Basilica was pretty amazing and had these interesting sculptures protruding from the front doors on the church. Inside, the Basilica was enormous, and had a huge rendition of St. John the Baptist's head carved out of marble, laying sideways on a table.
This is looking up above the entrance of Santa Maria degli Angeli. You can tell how old the building is by the worn bricks near the top.

This is a view of what is left of the Baths of Diocletian from a window of the Capitoline Museum.

The baths weren't quite what I expected them to be...they actually weren't really anything at all. Basically the only thing that is left of them is the area they used to be in, as many museums and roads and other structures have taken the place of most of them.

Laying Around Watching the Office

After I finished my homework, I watched a few episodes of The Office with my roommates Sean and Kurt. Kurt actually fell asleep while we were watching them and Sean tried to pretend like he was asleep for the photo. It took us four tries but Sean eventually stopped smiling.

AS Roma v Man U

Today was the second game in the Champion's League Quarterfinals between Roma and Man U. Roma won the first game when they played here in Rome, but they always play one game at each team's home field. We ended up going to the same bar where we watched the first game, which is right down the street from my school. The first 20 minutes of the game were pretty exciting...until Manchester United scored around 5 goals in the 18 minutes or something. Things died down pretty quickly after that. A lot of angry Italians. The bar is pretty cool though, they had projection screens on the main floor and in the basement but you could still tell the bar was around 8 million years old.
